Blog / News Not Another Boring Lens Comparison Event Mar 7/8, Acton 3 February 2023 — by Barry Bassett In a break from tradition demos, VMI would like camera department professionals to come and see some of our new FF lenses and help to create a ‘real world’ comparison video by taking part in a comparative shoot event, which we are planning for early March. We will be providing two actors, a 1st AC, Grip and shooting kit with Sony Venice or ARRI Mini LF, complete with dolly, slider and lighting. The aim will be to create four way comparisons of Cooke FF Classic Panchro, Tribe7 Blackwing T-tune, Gecko-Cam Vintage ’66 and Sigma Classic Primes (ie. same shot with 4 passes with same focal length across the different manufacturers). We will then edit these and produce a comparison video which we will publish on-line. We feel this is a more immersive way to test out these lenses rather than a dry over/under in a test room with a Macbeth and a set of fairy lights for bokeh demos ( of course we will have sparkly lights available for those who wish). Inevitably setting up and shooting a 4 way pass will take some time which is why we have reserved two days , if we have sufficient interest from people we could extend into a third day.
