VMI Supports Emerging Filmmakers through the Roundhouse Film Fund

VMI’s Third Year of Collaboration with the Roundhouse Trust

As December 2025 approaches, the Roundhouse and VMI are thrilled to announce the conclusion of another exciting year of short films created through the Roundhouse Film Fund. This initiative continues to champion emerging talent, giving filmmakers the opportunity to create their “calling card” films – projects that showcase their unique voices and artistic vision.

The filmmakers were supported not just with funding and resources, but also with guidance from generous partners and mentors, helping them bring their stories to life with skill and confidence. For the third year running, VMI has contributed some amazing packages including the popular Sony FX6 and ARRI Alexa Mini camera kits, accompanied with vintage glass and modern zooms. Our invaluable technical expertise, in conjunction with our kit, assisted eight emerging directors in realising their projects and enhancing their storytelling capabilities; this is part of our commitment to independent and emerging filmmakers. The kit provided came at zero cost to the filmmakers, making productions even more accessible for rising talent.

The 2025 slate of films spanned across a beautiful array of genres, including documentary, poetry, dance, and fiction, reflecting the diversity and creativity of this year’s talent.

What is the Roundhouse Film Fund?

Roundhouse Film Fund offers emerging filmmakers aged 18-25 a £1,000 budget to create new short films exploring social and political issues. We additionally provide mentoring, equipment access and screening opportunities. Funded filmmakers also have the chance to further win the coveted Wiggin Emerging Filmmakers Award.
