Equipment List - Gimbal Stabiliser Systems

DJI Ronin 2, 3-axis Extension-arm Gimbal system (14kg/13lb payload)

The latest Ronin 2 3 Axis Gimbal System designed to carry large payloads of up to 30lb (14kg), so suitable for large and small cameras enabling steadicam-type shots on carbon-fibre frame.

It is a handheld 3-axis digital stabilized camera gimbal, for large payload cameras with brushless technology for refined use which is quicker and easier to setup than the previous Ronin 1 and with more powerful motors, though it is also heavier too, so you are strongly recommended to also hire a support vest.

Also consider Ronin Extension Arm system as abudget option, Ronin M for medium cameras and Ronin S for DSLRs.

Also consider Regular Ronin system for regular cameras.

11kg payload capacity

DJI Ronin M - 3-axis Gimbal system (4.5kg payload - MX Version)

This 3 Axis Gimbal version of the Ronin is smaller and lighter than the standard Ronin but larger and more sturdy than the Ronin-M and better suited to small DSLR and lightweight cameras.  As with other Ronin systems, It is a handheld 3-axis digital stabilized camera gimbal which enables steadicam-type shots on carbon-fibre/aluminium frame with brushless technology for refined use.

For cameras larger than 4.5kg, consider instead the Ronin Extension arm system which has a higher payload capacity.

Easyrig Camera Body Mount

Easyrig Vario 5 (+110mm arm)/Flowcine Serene (cameras 5-17kg/30-55 lb)

Walking produces and up and down movement which the viewer becomes aware of when the camera movements are damped, so the serene arm was developed .

This system is an extension arm version of the Easyrig Vario 5 with Flowcine attachment to be able to support a 5-17kg payload capacity with an adjustment to vary the strength of support.

The extension arm makes it more suitable for gimbal type productions and Flowcine attachment dampens walking movement.

In common with all Easyrig systems, it spreads the weight onto the operator's body using a a body harness which is especially useful with today’s configurable and modular camera systems.

Easyrig Camera Body Mount with extendable arm and Flowcine attachment

Easyrig Vario 5 Long arm (+230mm for gimbals but without Flowcine Serene arm)

A VMI-modified Easyrig Cinema 3 system with Vario 5 (payload capacity up to 5-17kg) with a long arm (+230mm), to suit the MOVI/Ronin Gimbals and similar units, to push toe support further away from the operator.  Note that the position of the support can be brought sufficient close to do the same job as the regular Vario 5 system.

The system includes a normal Easyrig Cinema 3 harness, though care has to be taken when using gimbals when walking, since the vertical oscillation can have a pronounced effect on the shot compared with the shorter arm systems.  If being used for walking shots, it may be more suitable to use the Easyrig Vario 5 with the Serene system, though this is a lighter more versatile system, though it can still cope with a 5-17kg payload (30-55lb).
