The anamorphic lens is “Nano” as it is extremely super tiny and light. “Morph” indicates to Anamorphic. The range includes 5 different focal lengths – 27mm/T2.8, 35mm/T2.4, 50mm/T2.4, 65mm/T2.4 ,80mm/T2.4

Whilst these are manufactured with three flares options (are amber, blue & silver), VMI currently stock the blue flare version, so blue flares are easily generated.

The short closest focusing distance also helps render stronger bokeh and create stronger sense of compression.

Anamorphic lenses are generally, large, heavy and expensive. This revolutionary “NANO-sized” lens weighs less than 0.7 lbs (320g) and is only 3.54″ (9cm) long, making it very handy for every set-up e.g. handheld, on a gimbal, on a slider, through tight space, even on a drone, etc. It makes a lot of formerly impossible shots possible.

With a 1.5x squeeze, you will have a 2.66:1 on a 16:9 sensor after de-squeeze. Comparing to 1.33x anamorphic lens, Laowa Nanomorph delivers a much more pronounced anamorphic & cinematic look. For 1.8x/2x squeeze, the lens will become huge and a lot more image will be wasted when pairing with 16:9 sensor.

  • Each lens weighs less than 320g and is only 9cm long, which means that you can use it handheld, on a gimbal, on a slider – even on a drone.
  • (Unusual) Usually anamorphics rely on 4:3 aspect ratio sensors and adopt a 2x squeeze but these are specifically designed for Super-35 cameras with a 16:9 sensor, so instead use a 1.5x squeeze.
  • Even better, we can provide sets in either EF or PL mounts, so you can even shoot an anamorphic look with DSLR and entry-level cameras.
  • Also, because they are lightweight, you don’t need to worry about a grand camera setup with heavy lens mounts etc – just mount and shoot.
  • This means compatible with non anamorphic cameras and you perform the desqueeze in post.
