LED & Low Energy Lighting W/Shop (am) BSC, ACO, GTC & GBCT Members

12th October 2022 @ 10:00 am 1:00 pm

VMI London

LED Lighting Technology has been progressing at a rapid pace, with each generation improving brightness, performance and colour accuracy than before, to the point where modern fixtures are scarcely comparable with the early 1×1 litepanels and there are fixtures and solutions available today which are suitable for a multitude of different applications and all offer some degree of protection from the elements, quite in contrast with previous HMI fixtures.

Where once serious DPs were wary of using LEDs, the latest lights now provide a credible alternative to conventional tungsten, fluorescent and HMI lighting technology without compromise and making TV programmes more sustainably is in everybody’s interest but making informed decisions about which are the best lights to use, given the extensive diversity and range of lights now available, is challenging for all of us.

Thanks for a great Workshop. I learned.

Brian Rose, June 22

This series of 3-hour in-person workshops will directly compare and contrast the latest generation of lights for busy producers and crew alike, enabling attendees to experience the raw power of a 1.2KW LED COP fixture and appreciate how it compares with a 1.2K HMI (measurably 10x brighter).  A studio-based lighting workshop is vastly superior to viewing websites alone and since so much has changed since pre-COVID times, we have a lot to show you!

The course is based into two parts:

Part 1 is a brief history of lighting technologies and some theory of the different lighting technologies previously employed and recent innovations. Included in here are direct comparisons of tungsten, HMI and LED fixtures to illustrate the increasing light levels between the various technologies

Part 2 is a hands-on workshop for people to use and play with all of the lights on demonstration.

Excellent amount of relevant information

Attendee, May 22

A mix of theory and hands-on will present an opportunity to compare and contrast differing lighting technologies in order to enable filmmakers to make an informed opinion and update their lighting knowledge.

Thank you for organising such an informative and engaging event with the new lighting technologies currently available and being used in the film & TV Industry

Attendee, May 22
