It also unusually includes a focus wheel so that the operator can adjust the focus of compatible lenses through the HDMI connection of the DSLR camera, using the servo motors built into some auto focus lenses (check compatibility first).

The 3.6kg payload makes it ideally suited to DSLR type productions, though alternative Gimbals worth considerating are the Ronin -M for cameras upto 4.5kg and for cameras larger than 4.5kg, consider instead the Ronin Extension arm system.

It is solidly built and has a sturdy handle which lends itself to 2 handed operation, else it can be effectively operated with one hand.  The handle includes a built in stand and also holds a built-in battery to power the system for up to 12 hours.

Also, since DSLRs are so good at shooting a shallow depth of field and noone likes out of focus images, VMI provide a thumb operated remote focus as part of the Ronin S system as standard.

It is supplied fully assembled and the balance process is very quick and easy.
