VMI Hosts Successful Ronin 4D Workshops

VMI continues with is new post-COVID 2022 workshop season with three bespoke Ronin 4D workshops held at West London College’s Studio in Ealing Green and also at the Cleveland Arms in Lancaster Gate specifically for ACO members.

VMI Ronin 4D Event held at the Cleveland Arms for ACO members.

Up to 10 attendees per workshop shared 2 x Ronin 4D cameras, which are the first 6K FF cinema cameras with RAW capture and 14 stops of latitude to feature a built-in 4-axis gimbal into a single unit.

Whilst 3 axis gimbals to stabilise the X,Y & Z axis are quite normal, DP Ian Watts (below) really puts the 4th axis through its paces with his workout, demonstrating that even extreme lateral movement can be overcome and relatively steady pictures captured with the Ronin 4D.

We felt that the workshops were really useful for demonstrating the ability of the system to track a face and at the same time to use the autofocus facial-tracking feature together, as the operation of these subtle settings can change how the cameras are used enormously.

New for VMI courses was ordering refreshments from the local Beehive Cafe. They brought freshly prepared coffee and delicious biscuits which they bake themselves in Ealing Green!

We are expecting to host another 4D workshop later this year – watch the website and social media for advanced details. Courses are offered free of charge.
