The performance of the A7s is indeed impressive, as are the pictures from it.
A 24.2MP 35mm full-frame Exmor CMOS sensor, a 7.5cm (3.0-type) type TFT tilting LCD monitor, an 1.3 cm (0.5 type) XGA OLED electronic viewfinder (color) , Sony’s BIONZ X image processor, fast intelligent 693 points (phase-detection AF), NFC, WiFi and 4K and Full HD video recording in XAVC S.
This camera has a native Sony E mount mount and VMI supplies a Metabones electronic EF adapter as standard with this camera, so that you can use EF autofocus lenses. XXX
Note that this camera can mount directly to APS-C (Sony E Mount Lenses) without using any adapter.
You can still use Super 35mm APS-C size and use cinema lenses, or indeed full-frame stills lenses with Metabone Speedboosters (provided you are shooting in APS-C format).
It is only fair to advise that whilst the still pictures are superb, moving images are susceptible to jelloing (bending vertical lines). Although the Sony A7SIII has 3 x less “jelloing” than it predecessor the A7SII.
The camera is capable of performing 4K internal recording with 10-bit depth and 4:2:2 colour sampling when using either Long GOP or All Intra compression. This makes it possible to push your colour grades further, stretching video out for ultimate HDR realism while still retaining natural gradation, for true editing freedom.
The α7S supports high frame rate shooting at 120fps or 100fps at 4K. The 120fps footage can be played back at 24p for a 5x slow-motion effect – ideal for seeing every detail of sports action. Professional videographers will also benefit from features such as Picture Profile™ for wide ranging visual expression and S-Log2 gamma.
The Sony A7S III is also capable of internal UHD 4K recording at 120P with full pixel readout in the XAVC S format. For both stills and video recording.
3840 x 2160 (4:2:2, 10bit, PAL) (Approx.): 100p (280Mbps), 50p (200Mbps), 25p (140Mbps)
Timecode / user bit functions allow pro-style editing workflow, while an optional XLR Adaptor Microphone Kit supports high-quality audio acquisition.
Standard – Still = 100 – 102400, Movie = 200 – 102400 Expandable – Still = 50 – 409600, Movie = 200- 409600 Some crazy ISO numbers there and amazingly a lot of them are actually usable.
FRAME RATES HD = 1fps,2fps,3fps,6fps,12fps,25fps,50fps,100fps, 200fps 4K = 1fps,2fps,3fps,6fps,12fps,25fps,50fps,100fps,
In summary, it shoots very good 4K video on board with the same full-size sensor as a 5D Mk III.
Also, if you want to use Canon EF lenses, be sure to hire either a Metabones Electronic E mount-EF (£10 per day) adapter or Metabones E Mount to EF Speedbooster to fit EF mount lenses with full autofocus capability.
